Cathedral of Junk session, Austin Family Photographer

I'm a little late for this post but back in April or so after living in Austin a couple of months I met one of my old highschool buds at Torchy's....awesome taco place, and she then starting spouting off all these uber cool places I have to see in Austin that only the locals know about ya know? Well to our amazement I told her what Amy and I wanted to do for our first music video and she gave me the PERFECT location called the Cathedral of Junk. This man has been building on it for like 20 years or something and it's in his backyard....so stinking unique! GO check it out and leave a tip!

So, when an Austin client of mine called to do some family pics last month I knew just where to go. They were so cute and can't wait to take pics with the new addition to the family as well!
I just love all the colors and reflective pieces in this place!

New Camera on Soco, Austin Engagement Photographer

I am one happy photographer...I bought a new Cannon 50D and a new Cannon 70-300 zoom lens...ya baby! Of coarse I REALLY wanted the 5D but hey one day when I'm made of money I'll get whatever I want. A girl's gotta have goals to set and achieve and what's the purpose of goals if you jusmp the gun and achieve them before even setting them :).

So Amy and I went on down to Soco area (South Congress) for you non-Austin folks, to test out this new baby. The exterior and functions are all pretty much the same, just a faster processor. I love it! Our friends Trey and Sabrina, who are getting married November 21st so kindly met us down here for a quick fun shoot. Trey works for Cory Morrow , an awesome Texas Country band, and is a fellow Midlander (we're everywhere) and Sabrina is the cutest owner of A Happy Tail, an amazing pet sitting service in the Austin area. You guys ROCK and I cannot WAIT for the wedding!

Sweet like candy. I told Trey he should kneel down and say "Will you be my sweet-tart"? haha

The infamous "Hey Cupcake" trailer. I think our ideas rocked!

So Amy and I did our own pics in front Hey Cupcake for our Rankin Twins page...gotta love these metal trailers...so fun!

Wester Wedding, Austin Wedding Photographer

Morning everyone,
Amy here and I am April's twin sis if you didn't know. It's time I took some initiative to introduce myself to the Twinty Blog so here I am. This weekend we went to our hometown Midland, TX to photograph Lisa and Jordan's wedding on Saturday. I didn't partake in the wedding photography this time but was there in spirit. Here's a little of what April said about the wedding:
Conratulations Mr. and Mrs. Lisa Wester! You guys looked beautiful and just loved those dresses Lisa. The wedding was at the Golf Course Road Church and
I just can't believe I've never been there. They held the ceremony in this foyer that was very cool! The natural lighting in this location was out of this world. I think I am obsessed with day weddings now!!! Their details were fabulous as well with shades of blues and really cool cakes! LOVED IT!
I had a blast with you guys and you couldn't meet two sweeter people than these two. Thank you for letting me be a part of it! Oh, and they are now my favorite bc you should've seen their display table of all my work (their engagement pics). I was in heaven :)! Here are a couple of teasers from the wedding.

Here are the fabulous cakes I talked about earlier.

Check out the tear captured in this one. It's moments like these that make me love what I do.

Senior 09: Malin, Austin Senior Photographer

This shoot made me so happy this past Monday... I do have to say sometimes I am really creative :). Malin gave me such good ideas and was willing to do any of them...which I love! I think she is super cool and is such a down to earth Austin girl...who is moving off to Boston pretty soon. Texas will miss you my dear.

Anywho, with that being said, here are a couple of images from her shoot around downtown Austin. Oh ya, and props to her momma who was there to wipe the sweat of her daughter's brow and fix her hair when needed....now that's a loving MOM :)
I have been dying to shoot on this wall...I pass by it all the time on 35 and who would ever know it was a lingerie store :)...except for you now.

Another idea I've been wanting to do is the whole "packing your luggage, hitting the road for collage" vibe and after talking to Malin about what she was looking for we just knew it was a perfect fit.

The coolest coffee shop on the lake...how perfect is that?

Poppy & Wes cont..., Austin Engagement Photographer

Here they are folks...I swear these were the hardest images for me to choose from because
A) they don't take a bad picture
B) Poppy is one of my best friends so the pressure is on and
C) there were quite a few images to sort through :)

But, in the end I love each one of these and I'm so glad we decided to wait another day to venture out and get these pictures! The places they took me were such unique locations who could resist. I Love you guys!

We had the coolest time on Poppy's dad's two seater bicycle...I love it when clients bring me new ideas...so fun! Click on the image to view larger.

I've been dying to take pictures on a hammock and they rocked it! This sequence totally shows off their lovable attitudes!
Hahaha, I haven't laughed this hard in my life...so I ask both of them to sit legs together and just straight on no smile to give me that back in the olden days vibe....little did I know what was about to come...poor Wes just kept sitting there with his legs spread out like a guy would...me being a girl is finally like, "um excuse me but put your legs together"...and like a good fiance he does it...for a split second and this is the aftermath...my shot! Wes you're a trooper, thanks for reminding me the difference between boys and girls.

And who could forget the stars of the day...Railey and Sophie!!!!

I did want to throw a Shout Out about Wes's custom made boots...you ain't a Texan without cowboy boots ya'll! Love em!

I can't wait till the reception...a whole lotta boot scootin! This will be my first wedding this year to just be able to attend...well even better, as a bridemaid, but of coarse I will keep the camera close by.

Austin Lifestlye Photography: The Faulkenberrys

I had the privilege to do a session with an old soccer buddie from highschool and her ever so handsome husband, Staff Sargeant John Faulkenberry. They drove in from San Antonio and we made our way through some of Austin's downtown locations. This couple is amazing and their strength and love for one anther is one to witness. Thanks you guys! You were oh so fabulous of coarse!
Gotta love random railroads in the middle of downtown.

I had been dying to take some photos on this wall downtown...it's super chic!

My man is 30

This past Friday we celebrated my fiance's 30th birthday party...he's the most handsome and youngest looking 30 year old I know :). This year we had a family dinner at his parents, which was oh so delicious, then headed off to Speakeasy's where we got a table and bottle service on the terrace to see if he could hang like he could when he was 29 :). Gotta go all out when you turn the big 3-0. It was a successful evening and everyone had a great time.
